Smart Solar Bench V1.0 Base
A solar-powered public infrastructure platform designed to support outdoor seating and digital amenities. Its modular architecture lets future versions add sensing, connectivity and intelligent computing.

What it is
Seating that works as infrastructure.
Solar-powered
Designed around a solar power system so the bench can serve a site without relying on a dedicated mains feed. Verified ratings are published from as-built records.
Digital amenities
The pilot shows a display and warm LED edge lighting. Other amenities are listed only when installed and tested.
Modular
The architecture is designed so later versions can add sensing, connectivity and compute without redesigning the bench.
V1.0 Base: current pilot
The deployed pilot at Faculty of Architecture and Planning (FOAP), Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Technical University (AKTU), TRL 8, establishes the initial hardware platform. See the installed inventory. Published specifications reflect the equipment at the pilot site.
| Feature | Publishing rule | Status |
|---|---|---|
| Solar power system | Rating and configuration from as-built records | Active |
| Battery storage | Only if installed; verified capacity and chemistry | Active |
| Public charging | Only the ports and output actually provided | Active |
| Wi-Fi | Only if installed and tested | Active |
| Lighting | Only if installed and tested | Active |
| Display screen | Display mounted in the shelter | Active |
| Timber canopy and seating | Shelter and public seating | Active |
| Edge AI / computer vision | Not deployed in V1.0 | Not installed |
Edge AI status: DoubleSlit edge AI, computer vision and on-device AI analytics are not deployed in the current V1.0 bench. They remain development or future-variant capabilities until installed and validated.

Where it fits
Settings the bench is designed for. Each site is assessed for energy, connectivity, safety and approvals.
Campuses
Seating and digital amenities on lawns and paths.
Parks
Shaded public seating.
Transit hubs
Waiting areas, subject to approvals.
Public spaces
Plazas and promenades.
Tourism destinations
Heritage and visitor sites.
Government campuses
Offices and civic grounds.
The bench as an Asset Twin
Each bench can have an identity in Helix. What it reports depends on what is installed.
- Identity and classification
- Location
- Installed configuration and maintenance record
- Condition and telemetry, only where instrumented and connected
- Energy and usage measures defined in ViSE
Dashboards that show a bench's state are either live (naming the source device and timestamp) or labelled sample data. See the labelled sample dashboard.
What to settle before a pilot
The items a site assessment covers.
| Topic | What we confirm with you |
|---|---|
| Energy | Solar access, orientation and load; whether a mains feed is needed |
| Connectivity | Network options and what the pilot needs |
| Foundations and safety | Ground, anchoring, clearances, accessibility and crowd use |
| Approvals | Permissions required by the site and jurisdiction |
| Measures | What will be measured, with method and time period |
| Support | Maintenance, warranty and close-out terms in the proposal |
Future variants
Subject to engineering validation and the final deployment configuration.
- Additional environmental sensing
- Mobility charging
- Edge computing
- Safety-related functionality
- Analytics
Concept / in development None of the above is claimed as available today.
The planned V2.0 carries every V1.0 feature forward and adds edge AI: see Smart Solar Bench V2.0 Edge AI.
Deployment approach
Each installation is assessed for site requirements, energy needs, connectivity, configuration, safety and applicable approvals. Pricing and timelines depend on configuration and are provided by quotation.
Smart Solar Bench questions
Is the Smart Solar Bench deployed?
Yes. The V1.0 Base is pilot deployed at a pilot site.
Does it include edge AI?
No. Edge AI and computer vision are not installed in V1.0.
Can it connect to Helix, ViSE and MTRX?
The architecture is designed for it. Integration is stated per deployment, according to what is implemented.
Where are specifications?
Published after as-built verification. Feature status is Active; numeric ratings and capacities are published once verified.
